Joshua S Osburg b.1982 American Oil Painter
Through oil painting techniques, I create subconscious images attached to emotion, displaying a universe of color and visual discourse.
Compiled as evidence, images are processed and created based on experiences that shaped who I am as an artist. As time continues, so does the understanding of the past. Imagination has always played a role in how I process life and how I create paths to understand the human condition. Expression through visual language clarifies what words could not at the rate my curiosity grew.
Perhaps my interests in making clouds look like animals changed early in childhood. Deviant manifestations that matched the environment mirrored in the sky. My interpretations changed organically over the years until after a year deployment to Baghdad, Iraq with the United States Army in 2004. Some visual memories of this time are concurrent reminders of hells depth. The truth was inosculated with my escape and any attempt at looking up. These images will appear until they are processed and understood with complete awareness rooted in reality. Protected by the imagination, there is more the eye attempts to uncover.
The most honest thing I can do as a painter is conceptualize my experiences in an absurd manner.
